A Time for GivingAroma Thyme Bistro’s Christmas Day Soup KitchenEllenville is a close-knit community with a proud history and a resilient spirit. Like many small towns, it has faced its share of economic challenges over the years. Through it all, one thing has remained constant — the importance of showing up for one another.
At Aroma Thyme Bistro, that belief has guided us since the very beginning.
A Tradition That Began Before Our Doors OpenedBefore Aroma Thyme Bistro officially opened in 2003, our family made a commitment to give back to the community we would soon call home. That commitment took shape as a free Christmas Day meal, offered with no questions asked.
Now, more than two decades later, this tradition continues every Christmas Day. What started as a simple act of care has grown into an annual gathering made possible by volunteers, friends, and the shared belief that no one should feel alone or hungry on Christmas.
More Than a MealThis day has never been about numbers or recognition. It has always been about dignity.
Every meal is offered freely and respectfully. There are no requirements, no explanations, and no judgments — just a warm plate of food and a welcoming space. Whether someone is struggling, alone, or simply in need of a hot meal, everyone is welcome.
Over the years, this tradition has quietly grown as more people have learned that help is available, without conditions.
Community Makes It PossibleThe Christmas Day Soup Kitchen exists because of community. Each year, volunteers step in to help with preparation, packing, and delivery. Friends and supporters contribute desserts, time, and resources. Local organizations, including Family of Ellenville, help ensure meals reach those who need them most.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who plays a role, large or small.
Rooted in Our ValuesSince opening in 2003 as the first Certified Green Restaurant in upstate New York, Aroma Thyme Bistro has remained committed to ethical practices, thoughtful sourcing, and supporting small, independent producers. The same values that guide our kitchen guide this tradition — care, responsibility, and respect for people.
With GratitudeNow in its 23rd year, the Christmas Day Soup Kitchen is one of the traditions we hold closest to our hearts. It represents what hospitality truly means to us — not just serving food, but serving our community.
Thank you for being part of this tradition.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Marcus & Jamie Guiliano
