Prichards Distillery, Kelso Tennessee

THE STORY OF THE CROOKED NECK BOTTLE
Wonder why the neck of our rum bottles are crooked? This letter from Master Distiller Phil Prichard tells the story:
While perusing through an antique shop in New England, I spied a hand blown antique bottle that may well have been over two hundred years old. Steeped in American history, many of the products we produce harken back to those early days of yesteryear when rum and whiskey were very much a staple of early New England history.
Our new bottle is a reproduction of that old bottle complete with many of its flaws and imperfections, recreated for us at our new glass producer here in America.  We think it is quite a perfect bottle for our traditional American spirits.
OUR HISTORY
When you taste Prichard’s Fine Rum or our premium whiskey, you’ll immediately be able to distinguish our product from the large batch, mass produced products that line the store shelves. Prichard’s Distillery hand crafts our American distilled spirits in small batches. Our quality rums and whiskeys are distilled in copper pots and stored in 15-gallon to 53-gallon charred white oak barrels to allow for the best possible flavor.
Crafting our Tennessee whiskey and rum products is a hands-on process that is a delicate mix of science and art. There are many benefits to artisan distilling in small batches. We craft our spirits in small batches, so we have complete control over each and every bottle of Prichard’s that leaves our distillery. Fermentation, distilling, aging, blending and bottling are all completed under the direct supervision of the master distiller. This type of oversight can only be maintained in small batches. It allows us to deliver the perfect flavors for our whiskeys and rums.
Our fine spirits are an accurate recreation of America’s first distilled beverages. Our rums, made from sweet American molasses from the plantations of Louisiana, and our whiskeys are not unlike those produced by Benjamin Prichard in Davidson County, Tennessee way back in the early 1800’s. Prichard’s American Spirits, distilled in traditional copper pot stills using the techniques of the master distillers from a time long ago, preserve a traditional taste not found in the commercially produced spirits we have come to know today.
At Prichard’s we love what we do, and we believe it shows in our product. While we have added a few new flavors, our rums and whiskeys are distilled using techniques and recipes that have been in our family for hundreds of years. Our hopes are that you will give Prichard’s Fine Rum or Tennessee Whiskey a try and see for yourself. Our original distillery located in Kelso, Tennessee is in an old schoolhouse where the basketball hoops still hang on the wall. Or visit our second distillery (Prichard’s Distillery at Fontanel) located in Nashville, Tennessee on the beautiful Fontanel grounds on Whites Creek Pike.
If you’re ever in the neighborhood, drop by and see us!
