source: https://www.vix.com Those who like to enjoy a nice glass of wine and a piece of chocolate have great reasons to celebrate this combination of flavors. A recent study conducted by the University of Exeter, England, found out that the treat and the drink help fight wrinkles and keep the skin young. Wine and chocolate fight aging According to the research, both wine and chocolate contribute towards the rejuvenation of old cells, making them behave like much younger cells. The secret is in the flavonoids. These compounds, present in both foods, are known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. To reach this verdict, scientists treated inactive aging cells with chemicals based on a substance naturally found in red wine, dark chocolate, purple grapes and blueberries, which caused the cells to present changes and look much younger. "I repeated the experiments several times and in each case the cells rejuvenated", said Eva Latorre, head of the scientific research. She also believes that the data can lead to progress in anti-aging therapies. Translated article original published on VIX Brazil, by Paulo Nobuo.
